In 1921, Chicago Daily News reporter Ben Hecht started "1001 Afternoons in Chicago," a column trying to capture 1,001 stories of life in the early '20s.

Ninety-one years later, I started to do the same, updating with new, true stories of Chicago life three times a week at 1001chicago.com.

These eight chapbooks capture stories from the first two years of a project that, if I did the math right, will last until Sept 19, 2018.
